Plastic & Rubber Additives Electronic Handbook

The Plastic and Rubber Additives Electronic Handbook describes more than 13,000 trade name and chemical additive ingredients that are used for the formulation of plastic and rubber products. The extensive information about these functional materials has been gathered from more than 1200 worldwide manufacturers, their subsidiaries, and distributors.

This reference functions as a single source for information on both the trade name products and the chemicals that are used as plastic and rubber additives throughout the world. It expedites material identification for the user by cross-referencing trade name products by chemical composition, function, CAS number, and EINECS number.

The Electronic Handbook enables you to navigate through the information using powerful query operators for simple or advanced searches allowing you to: quickly traverse the database (for example, Manufacturers X-Ref can display the jump-to a single manufacturer's products); access every word, phrase, or combination in the reference; jump-to or pop-up trade name chemicals, manufacturers, or regulations.

The reference is divided into four sections:

Part I—Trade Name Reference contains over 11,000 alphabetical entries of trade name plastic and rubber additives. Each entry references its manufacturer, chemical composition, associated CAS and EINECS identifying numbers, general properties, applications and functions, toxicology, and compliance and regulatory information as provided by the manufacturer and other sources.

Part II—Chemical Dictionary/Cross-Reference contains an alphabetical listing of more than 2400 plastic and rubber additive chemicals. Each entry lists the trade name products that are equivalent to the chemical or contain that chemical as one of the trade name product’s constituents. Also included in the entry are: CAS (Chemical Abstract Service) numbers, EINECS (European Inventory of Existing Commercial Chemical Substances) numbers, synonyms, molecular and empirical formulas, definition, classification, general properties, uses, regulatory, toxicological, and precaution information wherever possible. Synonyms are thoroughly cross-referenced back to the main entry.

Part III—Functional/Cross-Reference contains an alphabetical listing of major plastic and rubber additive functional categories. Over 80 categories are included, e.g., abrasives, accelerators, blowing agents, fillers, flame retardants, impact modifiers, nucleating agents, processing aids, release agents, UV absorbers, waxes, etc. Each functional category entry is followed by an alphabetical listing of the trade name products and chemicals that have that functional attribute.

Part IV—Manufacturers Directory contains detailed contact information for the manufacturers of the more than 11,000 trade name products and 2400 generic chemicals that are referenced in this handbook. Wherever possible telephone, telefax, and telex numbers, toll-free 800 numbers, and complete mailing addresses are included for each manufacturer.

The Appendices contain the following cross-references:

CAS Number-to-Trade Name Cross-Reference
Orders many trade names found in Part I by identifying CAS numbers; it should be noted that trade names containing more than one chemical component and the associated CAS numbers in this section refer to each trade name product’s primary chemical component.

CAS Number-to-Chemical Cross-Reference
Orders chemical compounds found in Part II by CAS numbers.

EINECS Number-to-Trade Name Cross-Reference
Orders many trade names found in Part I by identifying EINECS numbers that refer to each trade name product’s primary chemical component.

EINECS Number-to-Chemical Cross-Reference
Orders chemical compounds found in Part II by EINECS numbers.
