Most Probable Number for Coliform Testing

MPN Calculator is designed as a reference to the Most Probable Number for Coliform Testing based on Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 19th edition. The program will report to the user the MPN for fifteen and ten tube tests and calculate "unusual sample results" using the Thomas equation. No more looking up results on dirty, hard-to-read copies or finding out that you just spilled wastewater over your copy of Standard Methods. Simply click on your dilution, enter the number of positives (or click on the on-screen test tubes) to instantly get the MPN of Coliforms per 100 milliliters. Included in Water Analysis-Coliforms Calculation, Reporting and Billing System.

Select one of three calculator types:
· 10 Tube MPN
· 15 Tube MPN
· 51 Cell Quanti-Tray

For any of the formats you may pick a dilution factor from 0 to 1million.

Entry of positive tubes may be from the keyboard, on-screen number pad or by clicking the "test tube" buttons on or off.

For the 10 tube, enter the number of positive tubes or click on the test tube buttons, the display will show the MPN x dilution.

For the 15 tube, enter the number of positive tubes at each dilution level (10ml, 1ml, 0.1ml) or click on the "test tube" buttons The MPN is displayed as data is entered. Automatic calculation of Thomas’ equation is included for tubes not in the standard MPN tables.

For the Quanti-Tray, enter the number of positive cells or click on the cell buttons for a running count.
