SCIENTIST was designed from the ground up to fit model equations to experimental data. The culmination of over eight years of software development, SCIENTIST integrates and extends four previous MicroMath products into one powerful package devoted to simulation and experimental data fitting. Fit simple equations, or fit combinations or systems of nonlinear algebraic equations, differential equations and Laplace transforms.
What Makes It New?
SCIENTIST is dedicated to the problem of experimental data fitting. It's not just a technical graphics package, or a worksheet for engineering problems; it's not centered around symbolic manipulation, or oriented toward matrix operations - although it embodies elements of all these types of software. SCIENTIST fits equations to data - anything from y = a+bx to models expressed as Laplace transforms. If you need to plot best-fitting model equations with your scientific data, you won't find a better software tool.
Who Was It Developed For?
SCIENTIST is a package for scientific professionals who "know what's going on" with their data, and need to establish solid parameter values to model real-world phenomena. Other programs feature the ability to "fit and rank 37,231 equations to X, Y, Z data." At MicroMath we think that shotgun approach demonstrates a lack of understanding of the basic science necessary to develop the appropriate model equations.

No Programming Required!
You don't have to be a programmer to use MicroMath SCIENTIST. The manual is seldom needed, and equations are entered in a syntax familiar to anyone who can do math with a pencil and paper. This means that you spend minimal time learning, or teaching others, how to use the software. In other programs you start by fumbling with a blank screen and a thick manual-in SCIENTIST you're guided by an interface with model templates and dialog boxes that eases you through the learning process. SCIENTIST is a powerful tool for applications ranging from simulation in undergraduate teaching, to advanced modeling and data fitting.

Design Your Lab Experiments
SCIENTIST allows you to simulate experiments, including random error, then fit the simulated data to model equations. Spend just a few minutes simulating "dry run" experiments, and you can avoid wasting days of real work that may produce inadequate data!
