QcUv/VISTM

How do you input UV/VIS data into a LIMS?
How do you "control chart" UV/VIS data?
Do you need a "one number" relationship between reference and sample spectra?

QcUV/VIS is a utility program that compares two spectra and calculates a comparison statistic, the correlation coefficient. This value is useful in control charting materials differences as in a QC/QA lab or as an entry into the laboratory’s information management database. The data must be provided as ASCII text with space delimiters and should be between 200 and 800 nm -- most UV/VIS instruments can export the data in this format. The data is interpolated by the program to ensure that the correlation coefficient is calculated at the same wavenumbers. At this time the program can handle a spectrum from 200 nm to 800 nm with a 0.2 nm resolution or a smaller range at a higher resolution.

The unique feature of this program is its ability to calculate a cross-correlation. This method essentially calculates a correlation coefficient after shifting the data point by point. This is helpful in determining if the instrument is shifting peaks or (especially to researchers) if a functional group is shifted due to some reaction or some other material characteristic.
