TurboQC!TM

Environmental Edition

Quality Control Software for Turbochrom

TurboQC! is a platform for quality control add-on functions for the Perkin Elmer Turbochrom chromatography data handling system. The Environmental Edition of TurboQC! is designed specifically for environmental contract laboratories. This edition automates the production of Percent Recovery and Calibration Verification Reports.

Report Data With Confidence

As with all TurboQC! products, the Environmental Edition allows users to define the Significant Figure, Rounding Rules and Minimum Detection Limits appropriate for each component. These factors are used to format raw data from Turbochrom results into EPA and industry accepted form ensuring integrity in the reported data.

Figure 1 - TurboQC!’s Main Method Window. Rounding rules include EPA (Organics), ASTM, USP and No Rounding. Sig Fig, Min. Detection Limit and Spike Amounts are stored for each component. Limits for Recovery and Relative Percent Difference are also defined for each component.

Recovery Reports and Automatic Limit Update

Laboratory personnel commonly spends hours each week manually calculating % Recovery for each component in the sample matrix and then calculating new limits based upon the previously reporting recoveries. TurboQC! - Environmental Edition completely automates these calculations on samples identified as Matrix Spike and Matrix Spike Duplicates (MS/MSD) and on Laboratory Control Samples and Laboratory Control Duplicates (LCS/LCSD). Sample identification is as simple as choosing a Turbochrom sequence file.

Figure 2 - Generate Report from Sequences. TurboQC! will determine which samples are MS/MSD’s, CalChecks etc. from the Sample Name. Users may manually identify the sample type by clicking on a pull down list.

Figure 3 - Example MS/MSD Recovery Report. Once the report is displayed, users are prompted to approve the recovery results and store them for the automatic limit update. After a user specified number of MS/MSD’s or number of days, TurboQC! will automatically calculate the new recovery limits.

Automated Calibration Verification Reports

Calibration Verification (Initial and Continuing) Reports are generated on samples identified as Calibration Check samples in the Turbochrom sequence. In these reports, the results from the calibration sample is compared to Target Retention Times and Target Amounts.

Figure 4 - Calibration Verification Report. This report compares actual RT’s and Amounts to user defined targets and flags the values that fall outside the limits in the method.

Summary Report with Sig Figs and Rounding

TurboQC! includes a general purpose summary report generator that reports data from multiple Turbochrom results files using Significant Figure, Rounding and Minimum Detection Limits.

Compatibility with Other Applications

All of the reports generated by TurboQC! can be displayed, printed and exported in ASCII format. The ASCII formatted file can be imported into other programs, such as QC plotting programs for the production of QC Charts etc.
