COMPANY BACKGROUND

SciVision, founded in 1992, is a division of Academic Press, San Diego, California, based in Burlington, Massachusetts. Since its inception, the company has focused on development, marketing, and support of high-quality, high performance, desktop scientific application and molecular modeling software products. A combination of database information and computational tools to process and analyze such information is the "hallmark" feature of SciVision's line of desktop products.

SciVision has undergone an expansion in the last three years of its software and database development team to over forty, full time, professionals including 25 Ph.D. scientists in the areas of medicinal, polymer, clinical, glass, and computational chemistry, as well as in toxicology and mathematics. Our continual growth is a result of the need of professionals in the materials and life science areas for quantitative structure-activity and structure-property prediction tools coupled to property information databases.

SciVision is a leading provider of desktop scientific applications to thousands of users in chemical, polymer, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and glass industries, as well as in educational institutions and government facilities, on a global basis.

SOFTWARE

SciVision is a leader in scientific application and modeling software with the industry's highest performance/price ratio. High performance, interactive graphics, leading-edge computational routines, built-in property databases, and seamlessly integrated pathways to provide ease-of-use are common to SciVision products. Program functionality, graphics, and simulation routines once found only in expensive applications on UNIX workstations, are now found in our products under the Windows operating environments, '95, '98, or Windows NT. In material sciences, SciVision has developed and supports SciGlass, Electronic Handbook of Optical Constants, Spectral Atlas of Inorganic Compounds and Organic Salts, and SciPolymer. In the life sciences and molecular modeling, the company has developed and supports SciLogP, SciQSAR, SciQSAR2D, SciProtein, and Alchemy 2000. Our newest addition, Ion Fingerprint Software, was also developed by SciVision personnel and is supported by us. We consider the latter a very important addition to environmental science testing.

In the near future, SciVision will bring to market highly advanced, scientific information systems for a Windows NT client/server environment, with Oracle and SQL servers, as well as Internet applications of our products. As technology evolves to offer important options to customers, it is our commitment to develop products in accordance with this evolution, so that we meet customers' real needs, both now and in the future.
