| COMPANY BACKGROUND
SciVision, founded in 1992, is a division of Academic Press, San Diego, California, based in
Burlington, Massachusetts. Since its inception, the company has focused on development,
marketing, and support of high-quality, high performance, desktop scientific application
and molecular modeling software products. A combination of database information and
computational tools to process and analyze such information is the "hallmark"
feature of SciVision's line of desktop products. SOFTWARE
SciVision is a leader in scientific application and modeling software with the industry's
highest performance/price ratio. High performance, interactive graphics, leading-edge
computational routines, built-in property databases, and seamlessly integrated pathways to
provide ease-of-use are common to SciVision products. Program functionality, graphics, and
simulation routines once found only in expensive applications on UNIX workstations, are
now found in our products under the Windows operating environments, '95, '98, or Windows
NT. In material sciences, SciVision has developed and supports
SciGlass,
Electronic
Handbook of Optical Constants, Spectral Atlas of Inorganic Compounds and Organic
Salts,
and SciPolymer. In the life sciences and molecular modeling, the company has developed and
supports SciLogP, SciQSAR,
SciQSAR2D, SciProtein, and
Alchemy 2000. Our newest addition,
Ion Fingerprint Software, was also developed by SciVision personnel and is
supported by us. We consider the latter a very important addition to environmental science
testing. CUSTOMERS
SciVision has a diversified, global customer base, including pharmaceuticals,
chemical
and glass companies, as well as national research laboratories and major universities.
The company's industrial pharmaceutical customers include: Pfizer, Merck & Co., Glaxo
Wellcome PLC, Procter & Gamble, SmithKline Beecham, Monsanto Co., Bristol-Meyers
