HOW THE UNITS WORK:

Room air is first drawn into the HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) module through a special pre-filtration system. The motor / blower assembly then forces this pre-filtered air into the positive pressure plenum which surrounds the HEPA filter. The air passes through the HEPA filter and sweeps into the work volume in such a manner as to prevent extraneous airborne particulates from entering the work area. The HEPA module maintains a positive pressure within the plenum and a negative pressure at the downstream gasket of the HEPA filter, thereby preventing contaminated air from by passing the HEPA filter and entering the critical work area. SPECIFICATIONS:

Cleanliness level: Provides better than Class 100 conditions as per US Federal Standard 209E.

Air Velocity: 90+/- ft/min (27.5 +/- 5 m/min) average when measured four inches from filter face.

Prefilter: Disposable medium efficiency (40% by ASHRAE STD 52-68) pleated type.

HEPA filter: Standard filter 99.99% minimum efficiency. Efficiency determined by standard DOP (dioctylphthalate) aerosol challenge. Efficiency rated for all particulates 0.3 microns and larger.

HEPA Filter Mounting: All HEPA filters are sealed using the exclusive ZERO BY PASS PLENUM TECHNIQUE.

Blower: Direct drive configuration with forward curved squirrel cage dynamically balanced and permanently lubricated wheel.

Blower Isolation: Blowers are mounted on vibration isolator frames.

Motor: Open, drip proof, permanent split capacitor type with thermal overload protection and automatic reset

Wiring: For Standard Units the electrical termination is a cord with grounded plug.

On units with electrical duplex outlet options there is an additional cord with grounded plug.

Voltage: All voltages 115V/ 60 Hz unless otherwise requested.

Control Panel: Contains lighted blower and light switches, solid state speed controller for motor / blower assembly, controls for ultra violet lights (where applicable) and circuit overload protection.

How the hood works:
Ambient air is drawn into the motor/blower compartment through the pre-filter grille (A). If the air is to be supplied from an external source it enters the hood through a supply duct located on top of the unit. The air then passes through a HEPA filter rated 99.99% efficient at 0.3 microns (B) and the particulate-free air purges the entire work volume (C). The unit also provides a high degree of user protection by creating a hand opening barrier (D). In addition, the ventilated base storage cabinet draws a small amount of ambient air through the door vents (E). Finally, a customer supplied remote exhaust fan is connected to the exhaust collar and removes all the air, vapors or fumes generated within the work volume before discharging it to the outside (F). When operated correctly, this hood ensure that all your operations are handled in CLASS 10 (M2.5) conditions.

Our advanced Biological Containment Hoods have been designed to provide excellent user and product protection. All controls for operation are set into an integral control/light module which is at an accessible level. Coupled with an increased work volume and large view screen, this hood provides a wide range of user flexibility. The cabinet may be used in the Type B3 mode by merely venting the exhausted air. Years of continued product development have produced a containment hood with outstanding performance and enhanced features.

Description: The Biological Containment Hood shall be an NSF International approved model. The exterior is finished in special chemical resistant textured paint except for the all stainless steel base plenum section which houses a drain valve. The interior work volume is manufactured from type 304 stainless steel and all corners are coved with a 1/2" radius, continuously welded and polished. The work tray is designed to accommodate minor spills. The work tray and the front air foil are one piece construction and easily removable. A hinged face shield is set into a recessed stainless steel frame and is removable with quick-release pivots. Automatic dampers assist opening/closing operations. All HEPA filters are rated 99.99% efficient at 0.3 microns and serviced via the front access panel. The hood is designed such that it is not necessary to move the unit for any servicing/certification operation. The control panel is located at an accessible level and serviced without decontaminating the hood. This control panel house's all lighted switches, circuit breakers, noise suppressed speed control and static pressure gauge. An optional air flow alarm system is available. The hood must operate in a negative pressure mode, that is, the entire exterior shell of the hood shall never be subjected to a positive pressure by a contaminated aerosol. An optional built-in LVS system which provides a constant voltage to the hood thereby eliminating airflow fluctuations. The base section shall be supplied in a modular configuration for ease of on-site accessibility and assembly. The hood shall be CSA approved.

Provide a constant exhaust volume from the laboratory when the hood is both ON and Off. (Standard on B3 Models)	Includes an access panel, anenometer ports, air tight damper and an air flow alarm package ( Item no.8720-00007). Normally the hood should be electrically interlocked with building exhaust fan.
The building exhaust fan should be capable of handling the exhaust capacity listed below plus, in the case of the Thimble Connection, the required by pass air flow with a static pressure of 0.1" W.G. at the transition collar.4 ft unit & 6 ft unit - Consult Bellco for further assitance if needed.
