proBNP - a novel marker
Why should proBNP be used as a cardiac marker?
- It‘s a SPECIFIC marker: proBNP is secreted in response to ventricular stress only. ANP reflects ventricular and atrial overload.
- It‘s a SENSITIVE marker: proBNP concentration rises 4-fold higher than BNP-32 in patients with 29% mean ejection fraction.
- It‘s a VALUABLE marker: proBNP has additional prognostic value over echocardiography, clinical CHF and LVEF.
